Arkansas

Camp Pioneer - Mena , Arkansas

http://www.camppioneer.org/

Not as good of facilities as hale, but for the most part better staff and a much better program centered on a troop competition throughout the week. Not as good of water activities as hale (no lake only a river and 2 pools), but has better food and better campsites with permanent shelters with picnic tables, lights, and electric outlets. No flush toilets or individual showers, but still very good facilities.

Texas

Sid Richardson Scout Ranch- Bridgeport, Texas (northwest of Ft. Worth )

Apparently good facilities, but gets bad reviews for staff, safety and program

Has a really good High Adventure program.

Worth Ranch - directly east of Ft. Worth

Same council as above, but this is their smaller more traditional camp, gets good overall reviews, still has an air conditioned dining hall

Missouri

H. Roe Bartle

"The best camp in the nation" is 10 days long, has a great traditional program, facilities, gets all good reviews, but we probably can't get in for next year. They use a lottery system, to determine who get's to go, and a representative from our troop would have to be present in Kansas City in November to claim our spot if we get a spot. I guess that means it must be really good.

Camp Arrowhead

The Ozark Trails Council operates Camp Arrowhead , the oldest continuously operating Boy Scout Camp west of the Mississippi .

Greater S. Louis Area Council Camps

There are 3 different camps for  Boy Scouts one has patrol cooking and the other has a dining hall.

It sounds like they also use a lottery system to sign up for camp. All the camps look as if they have good programs and facilities according to their website.

Colorado

Camp Ben Delatour

We went to this camp in 2000. It was a mediocre camp in a great location. The food was poor and the program was only fair and according to the reviews online it has not gotten any better, but if we want a Colorado summer camp we can definitely get into this one.

Camp Alexander

This is basically the premiere Colorado summer camp. Usually fills up early though. Sounds like it’s a great place

Peaceful Valley Scout Ranch

This is Denver ’s council summer camp. The ranch has several camps to choose from.

San Isabel Scout Ranch

This is the same council as Packard High Adventure where we went in 2004. If its run as well as Packard was the camp should be great.

Kansas

Quivera’s Summer Camp

This is a patrol cooking camp at quivera. I guess they don’t use their dining hall.

South Dakota

Lewis & Clark Scout Camp

Camp in the Black Hills of South Dakota, I think it’s the only one in the Black Hills

Minnesota

Many Point

We know all about this place. Probably the best camp I’ve been to.

It looks as if their council has been combined with another so hopefully that hasn’t affected the camp too much.
