Troop 990 Internet Guidelines and Approval

Purpose

No rthside Christian Chur ch 's Boy Scouts of America Troop 990, Tulsa , Oklahoma ("Troop 990") maintains an Internet website for the purpose of sharing information. The Adult Leadership of Troop 990 is committed to ensuring the safety of your Scout. As such, this document provides Troop 990's guidelines for our official use of the Internet. A permission slip is provided to document your approval that the troop may publish identifiable pictures of your Scout.

Guidelines

1.   The last name of any Scout under the age of 18 will not be posted on the website. Only the first name and first initial of the last name will be used for identification of any Scout under the age of 18.

2.   Rosters, meeting minutes, agendas, patrol lists, award recipients, etc will not document the address, phone number, or any other personal information that could be used by persons with questionable motives. These documents can be published without the expressed permission of the Scout's parent or guardian.

3.   While publishing identifiable pictures (close up pictures with a Scout's unobstructed face clearly viewable) is discouraged, these pictures often best capture the spirit and excitement of scouting. However, prior to publishing any picture with identifiable Scouts under the age of 18, the permission slip below must be signed and returned to the Scoutmaster or Unit Committee Chairman. All pictures with identifiable Scouts that are considered for publication will be reviewed to ensure that the parent/guardian of any identifiable Scout has submitted their approval.

4.   No picture will be maintained on the website that, in the opinion of a Scout, parent/guardian, Troop Committee member, or North side Christian Church representative, compromises Christian or Scouting values.

5.   Decisions regarding publishing the photos of Adult Leaders will be determined by the Unit Committee. These pictures may be published, with or without identifying names, so long as the pictures are beneficial to extending the ideals of Scouting and encourage parental participation in the Unit.

6.   At this time, the Troop 990 website does not contain any password protected pages. However, any password protected materials that might be added at some time in the future will comply with these guidelines.
